Stylish Girls Bedroom Decor Ideas
This girl’s bedroom design features some must-haves for ultimate style and sophistication for little ones. The pink and pastel colours used here are great in children’s bedrooms, achieving a scheme that is still oodles of fun, but not full of jarring colours - let's face it, you need it to be a restful enough so they sleep!
I'll talk you through the various pieces of kids furniture and accessories used - and at the end of the blog there is a numbered image so that you can easily shop the products you fancy. As with all of my blogs, a huge thank you to all the wonderful businesses (big and small) who loaned products for the shoots - you are blummin' marvellous!
WALL PAINT
The off-white paint used is Wevet by Farrow and Ball - I use this colour a lot as it's softer than a standard white paint. F&B is my favourite brand as I seem to be able to slap it on, without any prep, and it still looks fab. However, if you prefer other brands or budgets, check out this website which shows you alternatives to Wevet. The "before" image below shows you the variation of the Wevet against a standard white paint
SCALLOPED RADIATOR COVER
Scalloped painted walls are all the rage right now - I adore them - they add a playful edge to a kids bedroom. They're also incredibly easy to achieve! I had an ugly radiator to cover up (see before picture below) and decided to have a scalloped edged cover built - here's how I went about it:
1. I'm not skilled when it comes to woodwork, so I found a carpenter via mybuilder.com. It's a fantastic site - you can find a local tradesman and read reviews about previous work. I found a lovely chap - he bought the MDF for me at trade price, picked it up, and then came to my house to build it. In total, including labour and materials, this 8ft radiator cover cost me £130. I'm chuffed to bits with it!
2. Ahhh, but how did you draw the scalloped edge I hear you ask?! I took a standard Ikea bowl and drew half way round it - straight onto the MDF. We then just trimmed it off once I'd decided how high I wanted it. So incredibly simple! The scalloped edge is detachable and secured by those nifty command sticky strips.
3. PRIME your MDF! This is so important guys! If you don't do this, the MDF will soak up your paint like a sponge.
4. Slap on your fave paint - I would recommend using an eggshell style paint. This blue colour is De Nimes Blue by Farrow & Ball, or check out alternatives by clicking here.
5. You'll then need to secure it to the wall - using some of these fixings.
WALL ART
Kids wall art is an essential part of brightening up any room - it can be fun and whimsical like the ostrich and zipadee quote art shown here - or, if you prefer, it can be educational (or perhaps a mix of both!). The choice is truly endless - the most important bit is ensuring the child likes it as bedrooms really should be a representation of their personalities, as well as looking pretty.
All of our designs are available unframed, framed or on canvas - I've added links below to these two prints for you. The Zipadee design is available in a multitude of colourways to suit most interiors.
ACCESSORIES
Ohh! This is my absolute favourite part when styling children's bedrooms... cramming it full of wonderful cushions, bedding and accessories!
A large amount of the items you see here are from the amazing Scandiborn - they're an online retailer of beautiful, scandi inspired nursery and kids decor (and much more!). I have been purchasing from them since I started Pretty in Print - they always have everything that I need for shoots, so it's easy just to order it all in one place. Delivery is super quick and they ship worldwide. An all round thumbs up from me!
I've also got some of my most favourite accessories in this pic, from the cutest little boutique brands - all of them offer exceptional customer service and most ship worldwide.
